Raspberry PI B+ WiFi no longer working after upgrade to raspbian stretch.

Thu Aug 17, 2017 10:28 pm

I just upgraded my Raspberry Pi B+ to Stretch, to keep on top of security updates, but now my WiFi is not working. I have wpa_supplicant properly configured, and I know the WiFi adapter works, because running

Code: Select all

sudo iw dev wlan0 scan | grep SSID
lists available networks. But it will not connect to my wifi.

I've been fighting this all evening. My solution on a fresh Raspbian Lite install:

Make sure your wpa_supplicant.conf is in place then do

Code: Select all

sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces
and add

Code: Select all

allow-hotplug wlan0
iface wlan0 inet manual
    wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
to the end of the file. Then do

Code: Select all

sudo systemctl enable wpa_supplicant.service
Then reboot.

Just to update this – I retested on a new Raspbian Lite Stretch install and the 'sudo systemctl enable wpa_supplicant.service' step is not necessary. Do everything else and reboot and it should work.
