I'm using a 2.4A charger which I bought recently and pretty much hadn't been used until I started using it for the Pi, and as far as I know it works fine. The disks work perfectly in both my laptop and desktop with Windows 10 and several GNU/Linux distros.I use an USB Wi-Fi adapter on the Pi.
I originally had problems in the Pi 2 with the 3.5" one, formatted in exFAT, both with FUSE and the native driver, and I bought the 2.5" one after buying the Pi 3, had problems with them both (that one has an exFAT partition and an ext4 one). After setting
to 1 I did some tests and it seemed the problems were gone, and in fact I've been using the 3.5" one until today when it became full, so I switched to the other one.

I was inclined to think that the USB bus was having some power problems or something, but today I was able to write ~40 GB that I wanted to transfer to the new drive from the old one from Windows using Samba via Ethernet, at 11 MB/s, and the Ethernet adapter is connected to the USB hub after all. However, right after that I fired up Transmission and left something downloading. With my connection the maximum speed I can reach is about 7 MB/s but in this case it was downloading at 400 KB/s at most, and a couple of hours later I find the filesystem remounted R/O and dmesg flooded with stuff like:
I really can't understand it, as I said I've used two 2.5" disks in the past, both ext4 formatted, and filled them both downloading with Transmission, this is getting quite frustrating as it's the main thing I use my Pi for.
