how to reset dhcpcd and wpa_supplicant

so i kinda messed up and my wifi on my pi 3 b and it isnt working correctly anymore. when i left click the dhcpcd tray it says "no wireless interfaces found". im using wicd to connect to wifi with dhclient but i really want it to to the defaults again.
heres uname system info:
Linux Meme 4.9.35-v7+ #1014 SNP Fri Jun 30 14:47:43 BST 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux


so does anyone know how i completely reset it to what it should be?

Get a new SDCard and download a copy of plain Raspbian 2017-07-05. Write the image file to the SDCard with http://etcher.io

Boot your RPi from that new SDCard. Mount your other SDCard in a USB SDCard reader. Mount the SDCard reader in your RPi.

Use the new (untouched) system to repair the changes you've made to your original SDCard. Swap back, boot from the original then grab a beer to celebrate a job well done.
