SSD not recognised by pi

Thu Sep 27, 2012 8:31 pm

Please help
My external 120G SSD was working fine until I plugged it into my pi and now it's not recognised by any of my windows and Ubuntu machines even by gparted. It's looks as if its corrupt, windows states its a unrecognised device.
Cheers

How were you powering the SSD when trying to use it with the RPi?

Thanks guys
It's not a power issue the disk has a corrupted MBR I have tried low level partitioning and formatting to no avail. Have been in touch with supplier of disk and can return for a replacement. Thanks for taking the time to help me.

But why is the SSD's MBR corrupt (seemingly beyond recovery) after connecting to the RPi? And is there any reason to think that the same fate won't befall the replacement if you try it the same way?
