autocutsel on Jessie

Mon May 15, 2017 4:16 pm

My standard practice on Wheezy was to enable cut'n'paste between a VNC session and the host by installing autocutsel then adding autocutsel -fork to .vnc/xstartup immediately before the /etc/X11/Xsession command.

But on Jessie, .vnc only contains an empty directory config.d and I don't see a file anywhere containing an Xsession command. So could some kind soul please suggest where I should put the autocutsel -fork? Or is the whole thing different in Jessie?

OK, let's put this another way.

A ps listing shows autocutsel is already running as a daemon (parent pid is 1) though I've grepped all the way through /etc and can't see what initiates it, but no matter.

Running VNC under Windows, I can cut and paste from a window in the VNC session to Notepad in Windows, but the other way doesn't work. It did under Wheezy.

But - err - now it's working!
Except that .. .. now it isn't. But now it is again, yet no autocutsel process in a ps listing!
(Various reboots lost track of in the above.

Is it just that Jessie is too much for this venerable Raspberry Pi 1? It's certainly pretty slow.
