RCA Composite Audio Soldered to Pi 3 with added RCA Jacks

Sat Apr 22, 2017 8:07 pm

Hey guys! how are you all doing?
This is my first time here and i hope to read up on loads of threads very very soon.
So much to learn it seems.

Well i got my first raspberry pi 3 and everything is loaded and i created a NES console for it to live in and i thought why not add RCA jacks for traditional CRT tvs just incase.

I have tried the female RCA to 3.5 mm with proper end, and issue was the same but would prefer to have it soldered.

I bought the right jacks, the right cable, soldered it correctly (i think) lol, but am receiving audio issues.
Video is there, and fine, audio is there as well, left and right, but there is this over powering screeching coming through and i have seen other people, youtube, that won't get back to me, about how they did it, and there is no screeching in there videos.

so was hoping for a little bit of help from the great world of retro users out there!

i will post some photos and videos to help see the issue.

thanks again everyone!

Brian

Use shielded cables.
You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.
When General Failure and Major Disaster get together, Private Parts usually suffers.

I believe you have the wrong connections on the Pi

The ground isn't where you've connected the black wire - it's where the green one is

By the way, the links to your images made Firefox throw a wobbly.
These two may work better, hopefully.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! lol
UGH!!! i cannot believe thats what it was!!
we have SUCCESS !!!

i feel so in debt to you!!!

to be able to have RCA and HDMI options is important to me as much as i know many say who needs it.
CRT's are the reason why. thats all.

thank you so much for pointing that out

it seems they moved one of the audios to where i had the ground and it seems i was looking at a pi 2 board which has the same 3 upper tier soldering points but that top right one was not meant for ground on a pi 2 which now seems it is on a pi 3!!
