Error in Access Point docs?

Tue Apr 11, 2017 11:02 am

Hi,

I followed the docs at: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... s-point.md to create an access point and share DHCP addresses obtained via eth0 (the 2nd part of the page).
The docs look to be missing that the hostapd process needs to be started after a reboot; I have to add

Code: Select all

pre-up hostapd /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf -B
to the br0 section of the /etc/network/interfaces file.
Can someone verify?

Thanks,

Peter

You shouldn't need that. There should be a systemd service file to get hostapd running (as long as you update /etc/default/hostapd to activate your profile)

sudo systemctl enable hostapd
sudo systemctl start hostapd

Yes, you are right. It is not necessary, if you add steps from the first section.
(The second section doesn't mention updating /etc/default/hostapd )

Thanks!

Doing step one as the pre-requisite to step two is assumed, but may not be best explained.
