Targus Super Mini Power

Sat Sep 15, 2012 11:37 pm

I'm trying to keep my Pi's setup as small and clean as possible and having some difficulty. Here's my hardware list thus far:

Raspberry Pi (model B)
RT-MWK01 wireless keyboard/trackpad
Alfa AWUS036NH
LG phone power supply (5.1v 0.7A)

Without wifi, everything works just fine. The issue is the Alfa- from what I can tell, it draws greater than 500mA of power making it useless without the extra juice. The Targus Super Mini hub is the smallest one I can find but I can't find any info on a suitable power supply for it. I'd like to be able to hook the Pi and the Alfa into this hub powered by a single supply. Any suggestions?

Also looking to wire the 3.5 inch Adafruit TFT display into the rig and box the whole thing (sans keypad) into a Warehouse 13 Farnsworth type setup (hopefully incorporating the yet to be released camera) using perhaps a couple old Blackberry batteries to power it. I should be able to wire the display (runs between 6-15VDC) directly to the source but what would need to be done to make a powered hub play nicely in this situation? Unless it's fairly indiscriminate about voltage, I'd imagine a regulator of some sort would have to be wired in. Ideas?
