Power help

Thu Sep 13, 2012 11:00 pm

Hiya, I'm using a Palm Trio phone charger, and it seems to be working OK, but there's no green light, just a red light. :x I tried to troubleshoot but now it seems to me I need to ask a few questions.

1. Does my charger supply enough? It is 5 volts and 1 amp. If not, what do I need? I will not buy the Pi Hut's ridiculously priced power supply.
2. Does a Kindle 3's work? It is 5.5 volts.
FYI: Multimeter reading (with Palm Trio): 4.99

Thank you!

No green light = SD card not img'd correctly
{sig} Setup: Original version Raspberry Pi (B, rev1, 256MB), Dell 2001FP monitor (1600x1200), 8GB Class 4 SD Card with Raspbian and XBMC, DD-WRT wireless bridge

Ah. I see. Win32 Disk Imager isn't working for me though. The device is blank. Also, how would I use "dd"?

No idea about "dd". But Win32 disk imager can be picky about SD slots, or your machine's SD slot is picky about SD cards.

So get a USB-SDcard dongle, and try that

'dd' is a Linux command, not available in Windows.

Are you sure that your SD card reader slot supports SDHC cards?

I do realize "dd" is a bash Unix command (not Linux, get your facts right), because I also have a Mac, if that is needed. My card reader does support SDHC, but I don't know about Win32 Disk Imager...

There exist another windows program called winhex that should be able to create the sd card from the image as well. I am just unsure if the free version can work with raw img files. I know it can't create them. Google is your friend.

Whilst we're in uber pedant mode, "dd" isn't much to do with BASH either.
Don't judge Linux by the Pi.......

Alright, now my Raspberry Pi cannot find loader.bin. It's on the SD card. So, what should I do? Replace it with firmware from github?
