Compositive video doesn't work, everything else fine?

Thu Sep 13, 2012 7:01 pm

My 3.5" LCD I have hooked to the RPi via the composite video output does not work. During boot, the RPI shows a solid PWR LED, a blinking OK LED (which I am assuming is the SD card activity monitor, and it is not blinking an error code as far as I can tell, just random read/write access?), and the other 3 LEDs don't light up.

I have been soldering on the board for misc, is it possible to have burned/shorted out the graphics processor on the Pi? Does the Pi even HAVE a discrete graphics processor to destroy? To the best of my ability I can't find out what is wrong. It was working yesterday with the same setup. Voltmeter shows 5.10V on power, I'm assuming blinky OK LED means read/write which implies SD card is ok.

Any idea of anything I could be doing wrong?

Problem with the monitor? Try your TV just to make sure...
{sig} Setup: Original version Raspberry Pi (B, rev1, 256MB), Dell 2001FP monitor (1600x1200), 8GB Class 4 SD Card with Raspbian and XBMC, DD-WRT wireless bridge

Just tried the monitor with an old PS1 composite video. Works fine.

I'm really starting to think either the SD card reader is broken, or the graphics chip is broken somehow. Considering the GPU is part of the SoC, this is kinda weird, but I'm out of ideas.

How do I know if the SD card reader works? Is a quick OK light for 1 second followed by random OK light blinking/stuttering normal for R-Pi booting?

If you have a network cable plugged in to the RPi and to an active port at the other end you should be seeing at least the LNK LED lit.
