I dont understand what it is im doing wrong. My RPI3 B is not even getting to the rainbow screen, nothing happens. So what I did to troubleshoot it was to make sure I had the correct power supply (the power supply adafruit said will work with the RPI3 B) so I bought the one from adafruit that is 5.25V and 2.4A. Also bought the sd card that already had raspbian jessie OS preloaded. When I put all of these together (raspbian jessie, power supply, and RPI3B) it worked just fine.

Now im trying to get a different distro on my RPI3B and it would not work. So I tried reformatting the card again and dragging and dropping noobs onto the sd card (the sd card that did work, that had the preloaded OS on it). It still will not work, im not even getting the green led to flash. Ive tried getting the raspbian jessie image back onto the sd after I reformatted again and it still will not work. Has this happened to anyone here? Thanks for any help))

When I put all of these together (raspbian jessie, power supply, and RPI3B) it worked just fine.

That's a great first step. It proves that your RPi and Power Supply (and probably the display and keyboard) are in working order and compatible.

Subsequent problems are, frankly, probably down to not understanding or following instructions.

All the pointers are to you failing to write to the card correctly. If you are sure you are following the procedures properly I would suspect your card reader. Are you sure it supports SDHC cards?
