White display issue

Just purchased the seven inch touchscreen (800x600) from adafruit, along with their Pi zero.
On bootup I get a white screen on the display.
The display works with other devices. I've ruled out hdmi cable issues.
I've tried powering both the Pi zero and display from different sources, no results.
Assist?
