Only one USB port over current change

Mon Aug 15, 2016 6:54 am

Hi Experts,

I'm using RasPi 3 B. Few days ago I notice one of USB port is unavailable. After 'dmesg' command its shown '1-1-port3: over current change'. Even I reboot Pi or change the tf card and reinstall system.

Any one also has this issue? And where can I get the Pi 3 B Schematic?

Thanks!

Hao Hu

What is connected to your USB ports? Try with items disconnected until you find what is taking too much power.

Partial schematic pdf here.

Examine the ports to see if there is any foreign material or bent pins.
The power for all 4 ports are connected together (parallel) so the system has no way to distinguish one port from another.
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.
