Hello,
Today by opening my RPi case I saw a small resistor who was moving around in the case, I found where it come from but I don't know what I have to do ..?
If someone can explain me what for it is needed and if the rpi can't work without.
Here the link of the photo on my Google drive because it's too big for the forum : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1aQgS ... p=drivesdk
Thanks in advance
Re: Resistor broken RPi3
Well, does the pi work? As in, does it boot? I do not recommend soldiering it back unless you have a sturdy hand a good experience with soldiering. If I was you, I'd take it back to the re seller for either a refund or a new one.
Raspberry pi 3 set up as desktop with raspbian.
I guess you can say I am not newbie with linux but I am not a master at it either.
I will always try to help you as much as I can because I know how hard it is to run into problems

Re: Resistor broken RPi3
That is a capacitor, not a resistor. Neither the capacitor nor the board appear to be damaged so anyone who is adept at soldering (which is quite different from soldiering!) should have no difficulty to put it back on. Maybe you know someone who can do that 2 minute task.

Re: Resistor broken RPi3
C58 is the output coupling capacitor for Audio Left output. If you are not using the audio from the A/V out jack, your Pi will work without it. Keep it carefully in case you ever need it!

Re: Resistor broken RPi3
Thanks for all your answers !
First, since I've found the capacitor I didn't try to power it because I didn't know what can arrive..
I can't send it back because I bought it by traveling in the USA and I live in France..
I can't soldier it alone because I have the necessary materials for soldiering a small thing like this..
I never used the jack output and it will maybe never happen, so if it's just needed for this use I can continue by using my pi without this capacitor ?
