Because I have the newer raspberry pi 2... I thought that I would move my old raspberry pi b into another room... the problem is that idon't have a spare tv or monitor for It (well... I might... but I made another post on that), and so I thought I would use a old emerson tv from 2008 which only supports composite... but when I configure it to boot in composite mode, the tv's video channels show no input... I know the pi and cable works... what could it be?

Have you actually checked the TRRS4 AV Cable is correctly wired ???

B or B+? The former does not have a TRRS AV jack.
RPis do not require any configuration to boot in composite output mode. With default settings they do that automatically if nothing is connected to the HDMI port at boot time. However that can be over-ridden by force_hdmi_hotplug=1.
What are the contents of config.txt and is this a NOOBS system or a single OS?

I am using a small 3.5" monitor to access the pi as it is also composite so that makes me think the composite cable works... the config has sdtv mode 2... overscan... and frambuffer height and width... nothing unusual... the pi is a model b (gen 1) (edit: I was looking through forum posts about my issue, and I found I had a post about this tv a while back with a pi 2... though I believe it was the 3.5mm cable I was using to connect it which was causing the problem, it could have been the tv... perhaps it's past it's prime)
