Hang at boot with Raspberry Pi logo

Hi,

I've had my Raspberry Pi turned off for about two weeks and today I decided to boot it up. Unfortunately it became stuck while booting. It shows the Raspberry Pi logo, and then freezes.

I have tried two different (supported) SD cards, they both used to work perfectly.
I also tried two different power supplies (a very cheap one, and my Blackberry charger). Same effect :(.
I have reflashed both the SD cards three times, no result.

I have measured the voltages between TP1 & TP2:

Cheap charger: 4.57V
Blackberry charger: 4.97V

I don't know anything else I could do, because I also tried two different Debian distributions.

I copied Arch Linux to the SD card, and that seems to work...

Play with your overscan settings in config.txt

I remember somebody fixing a similar problem because everything was shifted left.

fully comented config.txt here https://raw.github.com/Evilpaul/RPi-con ... config.txt

details on adjusting it here http://elinux.org/RPi_Noob_Guide_to_the ... g_an_image about half ways down the page

I tried changing the settings, but it doesn't help. :(

Is there anything else I could try?

EDIT:
I replaced start.elf and boot.bin with the ones here: https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware ... aster/boot
and it seems to work fine :D

I would have suggested the Monitor cable but if it was that you would not have the logo.

Assuming you want to preserve the SD Card as it is if you can use Win32DiskImage to back up the existing Image then copy a known good image onto the old card and try that. Also if you have a new card thats the same size or bigger copy the problem image onto that card.

The idea is to seperate the hardware and the software. ;)

I've got the same issue when trying to boot up Raspberry Pi with Debian the first time. And copy start.elf and bootcode.bin from https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware ... aster/boot to SD card solve my problem. Thanks :)

When I first booted my PI (with pre-loaded debian 6) on a composite TV I also only got the logo, and nothing more. So I removed the keyboard, and tried again, and that worked. I could plug in the keyboard at the password prompt and log in.

At the next reboot, with keyboard connected, the PI booted fine as has been ever since!
