No Audio - Pi3, Sony Bravia

Wed Jun 01, 2016 10:36 pm

I got my pi3 today and got it all set up and running. But the HDMI audio wouldn't work. I went through the forums here and tried everything, nothing worked. Tried changing ports and cables, no hdmi audio. So I tried my second tv, a much newer Samsung and it works fine. The living room TV, where I want to use it, is a 2009 Sony Bravia. I'm not sure if there is something wrong with the tv, but the PS4 and AppleTV both work on it fine. The bedroom tv that I have it hooked up to now is only 2 or 3 years old. Is there any ideas why it wouldn't work on an older tv?

I have a Sony Bravia of similar vintage with 3 HDMI sockets, and a second, newer Sony. Both work with correct config.txt settings.

I have noticed in the past, that the newer Sony was not showing anything while booting, but OK once GUI desktop loads. I just assumed this was a resolution mismatch.

I can try to extract the config.txt later today if you think that will help.
