RPi2-RPi3 compatibility

Fri May 27, 2016 3:15 pm

Hi all,
I developed an application on RPi2, configured the board so to work interface hardware, wifi connectivity, ... all works well on RPI2
I am trying to place the same SD card that on the RPi3 but this does not boot.
Wasn't RPi3 supposed to be compatible to RPi2?

It is, you need to update all of the firmware.

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
There are 10 types of people: those who understand binary and those who don't.

This will work from raspbian jessie. If you are on wheezy or another distribution then this won't work.

True, on wheezy you need to update to jessie. viewtopic.php?t=121880
