Bad WIFI/Connection Performance

Wed Mar 23, 2016 4:03 pm

Hello,

I just purchased: Rasberry PI: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MV6 ... ge_o04_s00

I'm having all sorts of problems running basically anything on OSMC, it is very lagging, menus seem to take forever to load. I have a Google OnHub in the next room and I moved it over there so there should be no interference problems.

When a video is running the Sybu app on my phone is non responsive and disconnects.

Am I expecting too much from this or is something wrong with my Pi/Setup?

It would be interesting if you tried the latest Raspbian Jessie operating system, available for download at Raspberrypi.org Lagging menus hasn't much to do with WiFi performance. It would also be interesting if you tried a direct wired connection. With the latest version of Raspbian, the user interface is generally quite perky in my experience and more so even with the Model 3. I am not having the problems you describe with that OS.

OSMC supporting Raspberry PI 3 was only announced the day after your post. I'll bet you don't have it.

One possibility is that the version of OSMC shipped in your kit does not match the Raspberry Pi 3 which requires a new kernel. You might also try downloading that latest version.

I actually have the raspberry pi 2. I actually used the OSMC installer and did that on the micro sd from my mac so its a fresh install.

I'm beginning to thing my PI might just be a dud.
