Different latency on 2 different TV's

Fri Mar 18, 2016 2:37 pm

Im streaming games from my pc to my living room with Raspberry 3 and Moonlight.

The thing is, when I play on a LG M2362D I have no latency. But when i play on a Philips 47PFK6589/12 I do have a noticeable latency/delay.

Both with same Straming configuration, just unplug from one to another and I can feel the difference between them. Why is this happening? How can i fix this to play with no delay on my Philips TV?

Both TVs are on Game Mode on his configuration options. I also tried this but nothing happened (both TVs are hdmi_group=1 - hdmi_mode=16) http://www.opentechguides.com/how-to/ar ... tting.html

(Sorry for my bad english)

The Phillips probably has a poor response time. The "LG" has a 5ms (GTG) response time, which will work for gaming (2ms~5ms is a good range).

I looked on Phillips site, and some others, and nowhere could I find a response time listed, so that's not a good sign. If they don't want to publish the response time in the specifications it's a good bet it's on the high side. It has the 400MHz motion feature, for smooth play, but that doesn't say anything about response time.

If you're playing a movie, watching TV, or whatever, it doesn't matter if there is a 10ms~15ms delay between when it receives the info and when it displays it on the screen, you won't know the difference even though what the screen is displaying is running 10ms behind the input. But for gaming the display needs to update within 5ms from the time the info is received or it feels laggy, what you're seeing on the screen is not keeping up with the "action".

The Phillips is probably very nice for video and TV, but maybe not very good for gaming use. The "motion" feature is probably responsible for the slow response, as it's filtering/massaging the input first, before sending it to the screen

The Motion feature is disabled when Game Mode is used. But I guess the response time could be the problem.
