Problem with Librekinect for 360 Kinect on RPi2b

I'm trying to install LibreKinect on my RPI2b, for an Xbox 360 Kinect. It's running Raspian "jessie". I have from Github, the unzipped Librekinect Master in my downloads folder. The "readme" seems to imply that I must compile a new kernel. Is this true, or can this be installed from what I have? Being an old curmudgeon and a Linux NOOB, I'm at an impasse.
In attempt to follow the instructions given for re-compile, it requires the kernel version. "uname -r" returns "4.1.13-V7+". With this plugged into the subsequent "wget..." command, "404 Not Found" is returned.
How/where can I proceed from here? Thanks for any assistance.
