HDMI stopped working suddenly

Hello guys
I have my PI since 2 Days and all worked fine till now. From one moment to the other there were thin horizontal black lines on the screen. Then black screen and no more HDMI signal. I tried the follow things:
- 2 different HDMI cables
- 2 different monitors
- reformated SD card with 2012-07-15-wheezy-raspbian, openelec, raspbmc, etc
- other SD card
- config.txt : hdmi_safe=1, hdmi_force_hotplug=1

What still works:
- booting
- analog composite output

Is the hardware broken? I think I have to send it back. Maybe anyone still have an idea?

When this sort of thing happens to me, it's because my +5V voltage measured from TP1 to TP2 has drooped too low. I recommend checking TP1-TP2, and if it's below 4.8V take a look at "Troubleshooting Power Problems" at the above Wiki.

You may be able to compensate for reduced TP1-TP2 by increasing config_hdmi_boost as suggested in the Wiki.

Ok, i have now checked TP1-TP2 and it was 4,75V. But it worked with that power supply earlier. I found another power supply that gave me the 5V, no HDMI anyhow. I have tried the hdmi_boost config too. I can not even see the boot-logo over HDMI. But thanks for your ideas.

Here's a long shot:

A passive HDMI to DVI-D cable or adapter shouldn't cause any problems. For my RasPi, I use a 3-1 "HDMI Switcher" to share my monitor between three sources, so hooking up an HDMI device with a low current draw isn't a problem either.

However, some HDMI boxes such as HDMI to VGA converter boxes may draw more than 200 mA and burn out diode D1 -- see this thread: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... =28&t=9819. If your HDMI to DVI adapter has an electrical fault, it's possible that D1 is burned out, so check the voltage on the D1 pin that's connected to HDMI connector S3. It should be within 0.2V of TP1.

As I said, it's a long shot. It's also possible that several thermal cycles on your RasPi caused a weak solder joint to fail, in which case it's time for RMA.

The exact same thing happened (is happening) to me. Got it working once with a HMDI to DVI passive cable and XMBC - now just a black screen. Lots of flashing LEDS but no HDMI video signal.

Did you send yours back? Find another solution?

Any follow up on this? My Pi has jsut done the same - stopped working on HDMI (though I can SSH into it without bother).

Edit: I've just checked the voltage on D1. There are three pins (which is sufficient to confuse me) On one side of the diode there are voltages of 4.97 and 0.00 (TP1 gives 4.97)
On the other side I get 4.68. Is this too low for HDMI and should I be looking at a return?

Check the Elinux website for the config.txt settings.
There is one that boosts the hdmi signal. Maybe you are just on the limit and you need a little stronger signal.
I believe it's config_hdmi_boost=x
