Help! Fixing sound broke it!

Greetings.

my sound output was playing a TV static noise along with any audio being played, I am running Ubuntu MATE on raspberry pi 2 Model B.

I looked everywhere to remove the static noise and they said for me to go to nano mode

sudo nano /boot/config.txt

and i did, so when i went into nano mode i scrolled all the way to the bottom IM NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM but i think it is, so when i arrived at the bottom of the text document i typed in:

disable_audio_dither=1

and so then i pressed Ctrl+E then saved it by hitting Y (yes) then i clicked enter to save the file as what its supposed to be, then i played a song on you tube and nothing happened, so i researched it and there wasn't anything showing for sound fix.

so thats when i decided to post on the creators of the board's site, anyone know what is the problem?? Thanks.
