Rainbow colored screen

Sun Jan 10, 2016 9:46 pm

Hy. I recieved my raspberry pi 2 a week ago and have been toying around with it a bit. I flashed 2 sd cards for it. One is retropie and the other is openelec. Retropie works fine and has no troubles booting up and runing. I tried installing it on both my sd cards to verify if both are compatible (one is a generic micro sd card) and they both woked with retropie. But when I flash the 4gb caed with openelec then boot the pi all I get is a rainbow square across the whole screen. I've read that is suppose to mean it's underpowered. But I am using a 2,5A power supply. Is there something I'm missing? Can it be the sd card (it's only a class 4 card)?

The large rainbow screen does NOT mean low voltage.

You are probably using the version of Openelec for B or B+. Try downloading the version for RPi2.

Evening,

Low voltage is shown by a small rainbow icon in the top right corner of the display. At least, mine does that with a particular power lead bought for £1 at Poundland!

Not sure about your main problem though, sorry, I don't use OpenElec. Good luck.

Cheers,
Norm.

Uff... how stupid of me. Thank you Norman. I'll try that as soon as I can. I completely missed that they are separate builds and just downloaded the first stable version I saw. That will probably be the issue. Thank you :).
