Dia Segmentation Fault

Wed Nov 25, 2015 9:19 pm

Running RPI2 32GB, 1920x1080 display, Raspbian:

Installed Dia diagram and flowcharting program, which suffers a segmentation fault immediately upon invocation by command line, simply stops if by menu. Would appreciate any advice.

No solution, I installed Dia and see the same thing (RPi2, Raspbian Jessie).
From the GUI the program starts, showing the small Dia title window indicating it's loading the program. As soon as the main window is opened the program exits.
Starting from the command line the title window shows too, but then the program exits with this error:

Code: Select all

The program 'dia-normal' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 3823 error_code 8 request_code 70 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

I tried to start Dia on Raspbian Wheezy with the same error result:

Code: Select all

(dia-normal:7235): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: Attempt to add property GtkSettings::gtk-label-select-on-focus after class was initialised
sys:1: Warning: Attempt to add property GtkSettings::gtk-button-images after class was initialised

** (dia-normal:7235): CRITICAL **: dia_renderer_set_size: assertion 'irenderer != NULL' failed
Segmentation fault
When I tried on a Pi with Ubuntu Mate 15.10 Dia worked well.
Dia also runs well on a Dell laptop with Debian Jessie (Dia version 0.97.3).

Dia is version 0.97.2 in all cases.
Correction:
  • Wheezy has Dia version 0.97.2, aborts
  • Jessie has Dia version 0.97.3, aborts
  • Ubuntu 15.10 has Dia version 0.97.3, runs well
The conclusion so far is that the problem is somewhere in Raspbian, Wheezy as well as Jessie. What would be the best place to submit a bug report?

I just submitted a bug report at the Raspbian site.

I just upgraded to the Pixel desktop and now Dia works like it should.
