Re: Can see wireless networks but can't connect

Is 192.168.1.1 your router?
Can you ping it?
Can you ping 8.8.8.8 through it?
Can you resolve google.com to an IP address and ping it?

Take a look at your Windows system with an ipconfig /all command and compare the settings.

Hi Dougie.

I think I've addressed these in previous posts but happy to clarify:

Is 192.168.1.1 your router? Yes
Can you ping it? Yes
Can you ping 8.8.8.8 through it? No
Can you resolve google.com to an IP address and ping it? No

Pi can see all devices on the local network and they can see the Pi.

All other devices have internet access but the Pi does not.

So the problem seems to be only that the Pi can't see beyond the router to the Internet.

I have checked router settings and there are no blocked MAC addresses or anything else that I can see that would prevent the Pi from having Internet access.

Whereas before I had internet access from the Pi via ethernet I now do not. So now the Pi has no internet access, either vie wireless or ethernet.

I'll compare PC settings to Pi settings as you suggest.

What does
route print
show on a Windows system that can connect to the internet.

The bad news is I can be impatient.

The good news is that means I reflashed Raspbian, fired up the Pi and connected to my wireless network no problem.

The other good news is that now I'm trying to control the Pi from an iPad and, of course, as I follow the various tutorials that blythely explain how easy it is to do this, I am finding that nothing works the way the tutorials say it should. So I'll be starting a new thread on this topic.

Thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions.
