Black Screen - Hardware error?

Fri Sep 25, 2015 4:15 pm

Hi,

i have a problem with my Pi the connected monitor will only show an black screen.
I have a new image and I tested it on a other Pi, it works.

So I'm sure that it is a hardware problem on my Pi, do anybody know what i can do.

When i use the tvservice -s command i get an answer an every thing looks okay.

Code: Select all

[email protected] ~ $ tvservice -s
state 0x120006 [DVI DMT (35) RGB full 5:4], 1280x1024 @ 60.00Hz, progressive
thank you

I doubt it's a "temperature issue", more likely an intermittent (display cable) connection. If the "problem Pi" is cased it's possible that the case wall is preventing the (slightly short) HDMI plug from seating properly. Can you try a different cable?
Trev.
Still running Raspbian Jessie or Stretch on some older Pi's (an A, B1, 2xB2, B+, P2B, 3xP0, P0W, 2xP3A+, P3B+, P3B, B+, and a A+) but Buster on the P4B's. See: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/raspiidx.htm

Hi Trev,

I have tried three different Cable and have tested it on a running application.
So it is definitely the Pi. Had anyone ever a problem with the HDMI connector on the Pi?

The funny is, with the first cable the quality is not so good, with the second it is worst and with the third it is bad.
With the two which are not so good, I have green Lines on the Screen.

Thanks

try increasing the HDMI drive strength by using CONFIG_HDMI_BOOST=4 (or a higher number up-to 7) in config.txt.
see: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... fig-txt.md

note that some enclosures prevent full insertion of the HDMI connector.
also, how sure are you the PI actually boots up? read the boot problem sticky in troubleshooting.

Hi,

thanks for your reply.

I have buy a new one and now I have the same problem with this, after I connect it to a spezial screen.
So I think the problem is that screen. I don't know what's the problem with this screen, but now I have on the screen at home green lines and on this screen it was running before.

So may be the spezial screen has a overvoltage or something else.

Kind regards

I have bought a new screen and a new Pi and then it works for maybe two weeks and now I have the same Problem again.
I tried different configurations in the config.txt. At the field applikation I get an picture in 640x480 when i use the hdmi_safe=1 and with config_hdmi_boost >= 8.
At my test application this will not work, their I must use my original config.txt
But the picture is not realy good

Has anybody the same Problem? Do you know what i can do?

I have 5 Pis in the field and they work all fine the oldest since 2 years, so what's wrong with this?

Thanks

Has nobody a idea.

What do you think, can this be a problem of a short overvoltage from a inductive component like a trickle charge.

Does the Pi have a Problem with to high temperature? The Pi is not overclock.

Thanks for your help!

Once more I don't know what I can do, so I tried a Noobs Image.

As you can see on the first picture it is clear, on the second picture their are red/blue lines.

The different of the picture is that I have connect the network (Lan) off and on
So what is that?
