sound in external hard drive

Tue Aug 11, 2015 8:57 pm

Hi,
I recently bought a raspberry pi model 2 and when I plug the external hard drive into my raspberry, few seconds later the hdd started to make a strange sound like a 'click', so instantly i unplug the hdd to avoid break it or something.
Any idea to solve this issue?, I'm trying with two chargers (2.1mA and 3mA) and allways have the sound
Thanks and sorry for my English!

Sounds like the drive is not receiving sufficient power, increase the USB BUS from 600ma to 1200ma

In /boot/config.txt add the following line:

Code: Select all

max_usb_current=1
Retired disgracefully.....
