Black screen and white dot

Hello everyone! I am using the older version of Pi, the on with only two usb ports (not four, like the new one) and I am running the latest version of Raspian (NOOBS) and I have this problem where it won't boot into the desktop. It turns into a black screen with a white dot. I can type, but nothing happens. Why is that?

The white dot is on the top of the screen to the left. It's blinking.

What do you see if you press the 'Enter' key 20 times and then the 'Space' bar 20 times?

If it happens again I will try that and see what happens!
