No blinking cursor on boot if loglevel=0

Wed May 06, 2015 9:01 pm

With kernel version 3.12.28+ and firmware version 3f2f2607186be72e4945cfa8edc77872dfc73195 and with loglevel=0 in cmdline.txt no boot messages are printed but the cursor is blinking. After upgrading to kernel 3.18.7+ and to firmware 7789db485409720b0e523a3d6b86b12ed56fd152 the cursor is gone. So how to get blinking cursor without printing boot messages?

Doesn't anyone know? I tried adding

Code: Select all

vt.cur_default=2 vt.global_cursor_default=1
to cmdline.txt but it didn't help.

I was able to fix this by commenting out

Code: Select all

bcm2708_fb_set_par(&fb->fb);
at line 680 in function bcm2708_fb_register in bcm2708_fb.c and rebuilding kernel.

This line was added in commit 833534cacc4bd0ce1ed2c077bb42aa466c468536 (13 Dec 2014). If someone knows how to fix this without building own kernel, please tell me.
