Problem with RT2870/RT3070 Wireless Adapter

Wed Jul 11, 2012 4:12 pm

OS: Raspbian
Hardware: ALPHA AWUS036NEH with RT2870/RT3070 Chipset
With the first adapter I was not able to get a stable connection, so I bought a second one form the "RPi VerifiedPeripherals" list. Its a ALPHA AWUS036NEH. It connects without any problem but then after a few seconds I get a lot of "phy0 -> rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x07 failed for offset 0x0408 with error -110" errors. The Vendor Request is usually 0x06 or 0x07, the offset is more or less random and the error is always -110. I am using a powered hub. According to google I am not alone with this problem, but I haven't found a working solution yet. Any ideas?

I'm having similar issues, and have my own thread on the subject:

http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... 25#p593425

not fixed yet - but many people report success after the following:

Code: Select all

sudo rpi-update
sudo reboot
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
this fixed some freezing issues on the B+ model, but I still only get one image downloaded before wifi drops entirely and refuses to reconnect via wicd-curses.
