Networking Raspberry Pi to another local Linux desktop?

Thu May 30, 2013 4:33 am

Howdy folks,

Is there any good guides available on how to make the Raspberry Pi networked to another local Linux machine?

What I want to do:

Raspberry Pi --> Debian based Desktop PC --> Internet

I've got the Pi connected to the desktop via ethernet, I don't have a spare USB wi-fi adapter available so I would like for the Pi to connect using the connection from the desktop. Not even sure where to begin. I do not have physical access to the router, either. The desktop connects to the internet wirelessly.

After I get connected, I just need to download some packages and the Pi can stay 'offline' after that. Just going to use it as a standalone / seperate web-server locally for some development.

Since your desktop is connected via wireless, why not do the same for the RPi? With that they are both on the network and you can SSH into the RPi from any other computer on the network.
