I recently installed Ubuntu 20.04 arm64 for raspberry pi with command Every time the ubuntu goes into sleep mode and I wake it up the screen is black and I have kind of repaint the desktop by moving the mouse around
Does anyone know how I can i fix this graphical issue
or a way I can possible reinstall for a different flavor of ubuntu

I still have a raspbian sd card I replaced the no longer supported raspbian x nighthawk edition with ubuntu 20.04
To install the image I used the raspberry pi imager in raspbian on the rspberry pi 4 B 4GB

first thing you should do is grab "dconf-editor" and disable the lock screen. search "lockdown" in dconf

i was going to try ubuntu with the budgie desktop, just haven't got around to it. last time i tried the standard ubuntu(gnome-shell) it ran like crap.

i'll give it a go later let ya know how it went.

I changed the desktop of the gnome version and there seems to be less graphical errors
Also I think that fixed it partly
Also I will try command you provided to disable lockscreen
I have been having trouble booting I will see if this command fixes that

i'm in the ubuntu 20 64bit, using ubuntu-budgie-desktop, other than being a little slow i don't see any glitches. i only just started messing with it 30mins.
it's just so slow compared to my raspbian lite+budgie-desktop.

did you add the proper stuff to /boot/firmware/usercfg.txt ? be back.
still not worthy, back to raspbian for me.

I fixed the graphical errors and still have the lockscreen
There is one graphical error where the date and time are but it doesn't seem that much of a problem

the df-conf was enough to fix it

Is editing that file safe to edit in ubuntu on the raspberry pi or can I edit it with raspbian buster

how ever you choose, i edited it in raspbian before I even booted it, but I've also done it from a booted Ubuntu install.

I'm thinking you should check your wire, unplug and replug the hdmi. what you described doesn't sound like a pi issue.

I put the other hdmi cable in the freezer for a few weeks because raspbian wouldn't boot
I just took it out of the freezer and pluged it into the raspberry pi all graphical issues are gone

why would you put copper wiring in the freezer? that will make it brittle and prone to failure.

I have no other place to store it other than on the floor
That is where I am storeing my raspberry pi 3 B+ is in the refridgrator

I just plugged in the pi 3 it still works after being in the refridgerator for nearly 6 months

stuck it in the freezer and screen got so far damaged that it was trash It would turn on but screen wouldn't work properly
I guess I will turn pi3 into a chromebook with chromium os
Also RIP Nintendo Switch
Put it in the freezer and thing got frozen solid because I stuck it in ice maker that it turned into block of ice
might as well replace it with new switch lite
Then RIP raspberry pi 0
was placed in microwave and friend didn't see it and microwaved the raspberry pi 0
the thing was nothing but a melted mess of raspberry pi 0 had to throw whole microwave in trash

let it sit for a few days, not in the fridge/freezer

I guess I can take it out of the freezer and put it on my shelf full of ipads and put a few ipad 1's in the freezer. I will be going to a furniture store next week to get another shelf to store all my controllers so they aren't inside the oven anymore.

I am having the same problem. Just installed ubuntu with default desktop and screen blacks out and I can use the mouse to paint wide lines all over the place. Did you come up with a definitive fix?

I switched to MATE.....no issues. I use the command line 90 percent of the time. I just needed a desktop that just works.
