Ubuntu initial login

I cracked the mico SD card sent with the Pi 4. So I purchased another, but I decided to install Ubuntu because that is what I have on my main computer.
When I turn on the Pi4 it boots up to the login request. As per the README file, I entered UBUNTU/UBUNTU. As expected it asks me to change the password. I did. Linus then requested me to login again. I try with the user as UBUNTU and password as what I changed it to, but I get an error.
So I tried UBUNTU/UBUNTU and it asks me to change the password (a loop, in the army I think they call it a CATCH 22).
Any suggestions?
