18.04.4 LTS Kubuntu @uhd problem

Sun Mar 29, 2020 11:19 am

I've been trying out pi4 14.04 LTS Kubuntu for a few weeks.
Booting from SD, Running from USB 3, Updates OK (It figured out what was where by itself)
Linux cd4k 5.3.0-1019-raspi2 #21~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 17 18:03:27 UTC 2020 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux
System seems stable but ip audio is glitchy

My problem is running into an LG uhd tv looking for 3840x2160
This LG uhd tv runs ok at 3840x2160_30 with Rasbian (though I have yet to see 60Hz)

I have tried a very great number of things seen in the forums both in config and in Kubuntu desktop.
Many of the config parameters interact in an illogical and undocumented manner - so need to save your configs.
Phases of boot respond to config.txt and show 3840x2160 ok while scrolling
It seems that nothing is passed to the kernel - passing command line options has failed
Xrandr can define modes at 3840x2160_30 but selection gives black display & definition lost at reboot

At one time I had a 3840x2160 display with Kubuntu limited to top left 1920x1080 corner

There is no tvservice in Kubuntu.
Kubuntu is addicted to 1920x1080_60 - ARandR Screen Layout Editor 0.1.9 calls it FIXEDMODE(1920x1080) and it does not exaggerate.

Please does anyone have successful setup for uhd tvs for me to try?
