Troubles with installaton of Ubuntu Server 19 64-bit

Tue Feb 25, 2020 4:55 pm

Does anyone know why the package of Ubuntu Server 19 (64-bit) Rpi 4 (4GB), downloaded from official Raspberrypi.org web site, stuck on message

[Ok] Reached target cloud-init target.

We do not distribute Ubuntu - it's provided by Canonical. The link on our website to Ubuntu server seems to be for P0-3, not Pi4. Could that be the problem?

The link on the raspberrypi.org website takes you to the Ubuntu Web Site https://ubuntu.com/download/raspberry-pi , therefore you have to ask Canonical for support, though you picked the right download, it is their software and nothing to do with RPF / RPT......

you have to wait, the boot is slow. after you see the ssh keys for cloud-init hit enter and log in, you need to type "ubuntu" 3 times and then your new password.
you want to be plugged into ethernet as wifi is a pain to get working.

ps: 32bit works better than the 64bit, so unless you need 64bit app support, i suggest 32bit.

Thank you, Kerry!

That installation requirement must be mentioned explicitly.
(Ethernet, Password).

I have no ethernet, only mobile wifi.
I will try the installation of 32-bit during weekend and come back with news.
I hope RPi 5 will have an embedded LTE (sim card) .

the wifi is doable, it's just a pain to get the indention's right in the /etc/netplan/50-cloud-init.yaml file.
i managed to get it working 1 time, that was it, i bought 50 feet of ethernet to reach the router after that.

if just using it as a server with no gui, it should be fine. if your planning to add a gui, it was lags ville the last time i tested, the mouse was slow mo, working with apps, was a test of mouse aiming skill, the sling shot effect when moving the mouse.

raspbian is still the best os.

The 19.10 release of Ubuntu is supported for 9 months and will not reach its End of Life until July 2020.
