Ubuntu Mate disk image is always EMPTY...

Hi all... I'm trying to download Ubuntu Mate to install on a Rpi3. I'm downloading it from ubuntu-pi-flavour-maker.org, which takes me to the official Ubuntu page, but when I unarchive the .xz file (using The Unarchiver on MacOs) and mount the .img file it's always EMPTY. Nothing there.

The file I'm downloading is: ubuntu-core-18-armhf+raspi3.img. Double-clicking it loads a volume called 'UBUNTU', but it's completely empty (showing '0 items, 65.9MB Available').

Are there any other sources to download from?

TIA,

The Ubuntu image likely contains a Linux etx4 filesystem, which Mac OS computers cant'read by default.

Also note that the 16.04 version will not work on the newer 3B+ model (I think there is an 18.x release that works).

Get the Etcher image writing utility and use that to write your card directly fom the download (don't extract the image first).

Thanks, in the end I was able to install Xubuntu on the Pi with no problems (well, apart from getting WiFi going...). I'll try writing the Mate image directly.
