Ubuntu 20.10 and Netflix

Mon Apr 19, 2021 4:11 pm

Hello all!
Is there a way to get Netflix working on Raspberry PI4 running Ubuntu 20.10? From what I have read it doesn't work due to DRM. Browsers like Firefox and Chromium doesn't support it from what I found out.
I have tried numerous ways including: https://github.com/monkaBlyat/docker-chromium-armhf But it fails on step: "sudo docker build -t hthiemann/chromium-armhf ." From what I see it couldn't fetch some of dependencies for example: Failed to fetch http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/po ... _armhf.deb Could not resolve 'ports.ubuntu.com'
I will be very glad for your help.

You can't run widevine on 64-bit arm, and that is needed for Netflix.
I believe Ubuntu Desktop 20.10 is 64-bit.

It is possible on 32-bit RPiOS or 32-bit versions of Ubuntu.

just grab yourself a spare sd & set it up to run netflix on raspberry.
it's simple to power off & switch to different os's, i do it all the time.

Thank you all for help. Maybe sometime they will support ARM and 64-bit OS.
For a time being I guess I will choose this double OS solution :)

Would be amazing if Ubuntu 64bit got official widevine support, since Chromium streams YouTube really well in yesterday's new Ubuntu desktop release.
Netflix etc. would take it to the next level!
Swapping sd cards between PiOS and other OSes is the way to go for drm.

Widevine is proprietary software, so you need to request Google to release a suitable ARM64 version:

https://github.com/raspberrypi/Raspberr ... /issues/11
The information is out there....you just have to let it in.
