Sense hat out of stock till Aug!

Oh dear, our careful crafted schedule (erm!) of releasing a balloon by May/June at the latest has taken a huge knock with the eventual admission from our supplier (RS components) that the sense hat is out of stock until August. Having canvassed several other suppliers it appears there are none to be had.

Q1. Is using a 2nd A+ module with some additional sensors attached a reasonable option and what might be the issues with this? I assume some additional programming would be needed to log the data from one pi to the other and back to the ground via the Pits board.

Q2. Does anybody know of a supplier who has any or who would be willing to sell us one of their own personal stock?

thanks,

Mr B

I'd just get a Pi prototyping board, add whatever I2C sensors you're interested in to that, then code up some Python to read and log the sensor values.

If you want to include those values in the telemetry, then yes you would need to modify the C source code to pick up the sensor values.

Hey! You can actually get a SenseHat in this kit still: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/83-16564RK

It's actually a pretty awesome kit too. Comes with a Raspberry Pi 3, and Initial State (a pretty sweet data analytics service). I'm not sure when the Sense HATS will be available on their own.
