display inverted! how do I fix?

Sat Jun 08, 2019 3:20 am

Pi 3B+ official display using CBRPP-TS-BLK/WHT case.

I have read forum re- rotate and have managed to invert screen BUT the cursor moves wrong way, X and Y. with finger Mouse control is ok.

Another issue is how do I open anything with the touch screen? I can open if I use mouse.

Had my Pi about a month.
Also want to use HDMI same time as display.

Which rotate option are you using?

iirc display_lcd_rotate=2 is the one that works with the official touchscreen, although the older lcd_rotate=2 might be the one to use. I don't have the official screen, so I can't verify this.

It isn't currently possible to use HDMI and the official display for desktop at the same time, but some new stuff is in the pipeline that will allow it and will hopefully go live in a month or so.

Until then, I believe it is possible to use the LCD for general use while playing certain types of video with omxplayer on the HDMI.

I had used this to rotate/invert the screen

Code: Select all

 display_lcd_rotate=2 # rotates image
then tried this to correct the x-y movement

Code: Select all

 dtoverlay=rpi-ft5406,touchscreen-swapped-x-y=1
that swapped x-y and if the screen was only rotated 90 it was ok for that.
I then tried.

Code: Select all

 dtoverlay=rpi-ft5406, touchscreen-inverted-x=2
x-y moved opposite to movement of finger.
I succeeded, the only commanded needed was

Code: Select all

lcd_rotate=2
screen correct way up for the enclosure, with x and y coordinates operating correctly.
And I was able to open folders and files with my finger on the touch screen.
Thank you for your reply.

Re the HDMI problem.
I will be looking forward to the fix for this problem.
even though I can ssh to the pi, its convenient to be able to type directly on a full size keyboard to the full size display when configuring.

HDMI problem? There is no problem! There is only one display supported atm.
As said, some work is done to allow for two displays, but it's not released yet.

Until this has happened you can either use HDMI or DSI display.

Hello,
There are two easy lines which you need to add into the config.txt file of your SD card for the OS in question. It's best to place these two lines near the top of the file, just after the header.

lcd_rotate=2
display_rotate=2

Note, this is for the latest Raspbian OS and it works on the touch-screen orientation as well. Setting each value to 0 reverts to original, non-rotated. Or comment it out to do so.

These will rotate both the official 7"display and any HDMI it's plugged into. I make this change with each RPi SD card I have. If you do a search on Raspberry.org for the config.txt, you will find this info as well as much more.

Cheers,
