Official Raspberry Pi Touchscreen not working but recognized

Thu Apr 25, 2019 5:13 pm

Hi everybody!

This is my first post so please excuse any mistakes I make :)

I´m having trouble getting my official Raspberry Pi touchscreen working on my RPI3.
I´m using the latest Raspbian Stretch fom April 2019.

The issue I´m having is that my display is showing a video signal (e.g. the desktop) but the touch interface does not work.
I´ve googled a bit and found some posts regarding the touchscreen not showing up at all, but in my case it is showing up. It just doesn´t work.

I´ve already tested it using:
dmesg | grep -i ft5406
cat /proc/cmdline | grep bcm2708_fb

I´m not the greatest Linux-guru yet so I can´t find any solution.

Is this a known issue and is there a solution to this problem?

Thanks for any help :)

Which wires did you connect to the Pi? There are a couple of wires that only need to be connected to the GPIO connector for the very early PI 1B. If connected on other models they can cause problems.

To expand on what Dom's told you.

It's the green and yellow dupont wires on pin#3 & pin#5 that break things on all 40 pin Raspberries.

Welcome to the forums.

You're doing fine so far. Just for information, there is a forum section specifically devoted to the RPF 7" screen.

On the actual problem...make sure that the ribbon cable is fully and properly seated at both ends and the latches are closed.
