Get rid of the black sides?

Fri Dec 08, 2017 10:44 am

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if it is possible to get rid / cut off the black sides of the 7 inch screen?
Because the screen's dimensions are: 194mm x 110mm the working screen area: 155mm x 86mm.
The electronics are behind the screen, so it wouldn't matter if I cut it off right?

So can I do that?

Second question, Why are those edges there anyway?

thanks in common,
Dennis

So the LCD can be panel mounted flat. It MIGHT be possible to use a heat gun to loosen the glue holding it and peel it off, but not sure if that will damage the touchscreen. Certainly makes the whole thing vulnerable to damage, and it will wreck the warranty.
