I have a Raspberry Pi 2 model b and am looking to start programming but I wanted to get the display for easier use and had some questions i couldn't find the answers to. 1. If the screen is set up, will a keyboard and mouse work with it? 2. If I just have the raspberry pi running etc and i buy the display, will I need anything else to get it to work? Thanks!

You can use a mouse and keyboard with a Pi2B and a display. I do it on a regular basis.

You can use the on-screen keyboard but the pain and medical attention when you've sharpened your index fingers to avoid the mistypes may not be worth it.

There's also a left button on-screen mouse which can be turned into a right & left button mouse with something called twofing (search for it).

Quite often I find using a full size keyboard is a bunch easier.

I use a keyboard with a touchpad built in with mine no problem. I hardly ever use the touch part of it. Mostly because its capacitive touch. That means using a nubby stylus that isn't any more accurate than my nubby fingers. If I could use a fine tip stylus I would be using the touch part a lot more. A fine tip stylus would make using the onscreen keyboard a lot easier. It is what it is though.
