Do you really mean the DSI connector? That is configured by the closed firmware blob, so can only really drive the official display. The upstreamed OpenGL driver is starting to get bits of code to drive DSI, but last I looked it was currently incomplete on that front.
I believe the hardware can go up to 1080P, the same as HDMI. It may be possible to overclock the peripheral to go higher (the same as HDMI can drive 4k with overclocking).
Getting it through EMC testing at that rate may be trickier.
