New Touchscreen

Mon Apr 04, 2016 5:12 am

I was real excited when I saw the touchscreen for sale, I have been using my HDTV as my monitor for my Raspberry PI 2 for almost a year. It took them 10 days on snail mail to get the new touchscreen to me, I couldn't wait to open the box. Following instructions on various UTube videos and the PI website I made the connections as directed and applied power.

It doesn't work, bummer. Does anyone know of any problems of this kind with the Touchscreen? I will call the seller  in the morning when they open, I'm in Arizona, they are in Central time.

Which touch screen do you have? Is it the 'official' RPF one?

Thanks for the reply, it is the new pi device. Found a Troubleshooting list from Pi then called the seller and they are sending me a replacement as we speak. Here is the list:

Troubleshooting:

Power should go into the adapter board FIRST, then to the Pi.
Ensure your power supply is rated for 5V@2A.
Double check all connections - GPIO, USB, and ribbon cables.
If powering via GPIO, make sure USB is not connected.
If powering via USB, make sure GPIO is not connected.
Update your OS to the latest version using sudo apt-get update upgrade.
Try swapping USB cables (higher quality is preferred.)
Does your Pi boot without being connected to the touchscreen? If not, reflash your SD card and try again.

Part Numbers

Thank you again.

Did you update your Raspbian recently?

If your installation predates the RPi display being released it won't be able to drive it.

You can try

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

and see if that gets it working.
