Tue Oct 20, 2015 9:38 am

Hi everyone!

I bought it, but I need to remove the touch screen.

Is it possible to take off the touch screen from the display?

Thank you!!

The Blog does clearly state:

Touchscreen

The Raspberry Pi display has an integrated 10-point touchscreen

You could disable the touchscreen functionality but you can't physically remove it!

Yep - you can remove it. Use a hair dryer to warm up the glass touchscreen and peel it away...carefully... from the the TFT display underneath.

I'm looking at making a portable media center with the touchscreen, though what options are available for disabling and re-enabling touchscreen for input, could it be accomplished via a GPIO connected switch?

Thanks.

I had mine on non-stop for three weeks when I was away on holiday.
Today I read up on the forum about the problems with the touch screen detaching itself.
I checked up on my contraption (touchscreen mounted 'ribbon cable up' in this stand : e.g. ' http://swag.raspberrypi.org/collections ... play-frame ').
The ensemble was lukewarm and the touchscreen had completely detached itself.

So yes, the touchscreen is detacheable. Even if you don't want to.
