fbi crashes on Display?

Tue Oct 06, 2015 12:40 am

So I've got the new display and I did:

apt-get install fbi

and I'm running:

/usr/bin/fbi -cachemem 0 -vt 1 -device /dev/fb0 -noverbose -autozoom -timeout 1 -list /root/frontdoor.lst

and frontdoor.lst contains:

http://<username>:<password>@frontdoorc ... on=640x480
(four times, fib caches otherwise, even though -cachemem tells it not to)

And it works for a while and then crashes. I've got it automatically restarting by adding:

* * * * * /usr/bin/pgrep fbi || /usr/bin/fbi -cachemem 0 -vt 1 -device /dev/fb0 -noverbose -autozoom -timeout 1 -list /root/frontdoor.lst

to crontab, but it still crashes and shows the text console for up to a minute before it restarts.

I've seen references to fim, which is an improved fbi, but it doesn't seem to be available for Jessie?

Any idea what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it? I'm essentially trying to display the output of my webcam on my display...

Strange! I'm doing the same and it works fine for me. I run fbi as root though. This is my command line:

Code: Select all

sudo fbi -T 1 -a <picture>.jpg

Return to “Official Foundation Display”
