Touchscreen Display is not working :-(

Fri Oct 02, 2015 6:48 pm

hi there,

I am a noob and I have recently bought a Raspberry Pi 2 and Raspberry Pi 7" Touchscreen display (element 14).

I have tried everything but the screen is not working (connecting correctly). Does anybody else has the same problems? and does anyone has any idea what to do?

thanks in advance!

I have this same problem. I bought two screens and have the problem with both. I did all the updates and followed the guide here - http://thepihut.com/blogs/raspberry-pi- ... mbly-guide - but not getting signal on the screen. I get HDMI video output fine and the power is plugged into the screen adapter so at least enough power to energize the pi is coming through. I can accept that I muffed one install, but two seems unlikely. Ditto having two lemons. I'm clearly missing something.

Did you mind the orientation of the flatcables? They conduct only on one side, and the connectors also connect only to one side. If you are not aware of this there is a 50% chance that the cables do not make contact.

Just to sling another guide into the pot, I've put together ones with closeups of the flat cables: http://forums.pimoroni.com/t/raspberry- ... embly/1132

I've seen enough "not working" touchscreens working fine for me that I wonder if there's something in the software at play. It's well worth installing a fresh Raspbian Jessie image to eliminate that.

Of course, you can't tar every problem with the same brush- I've had one touchscreen which just didn't work, even when I tried it with a different driver board.

The screen does NOT work with NOOB distro.
You need to download Raspbian Wheezy and create a new SD card with that distro.
Download here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/
To create your SD card: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... /README.md
and do this: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... windows.md
Connect the RPI to a standard screen and update and upgrade Raspbian Wheezy.

When connection the screen to RPI, make sure you get the connectors and the power cords right. (Some tutorials show a misleading picture with the power connectors on the wrong place.)
Here is the official installation guide, with really good pictures:
http://www.element14.com/community/docs ... y#installI

It took me a couple of hours to find all this myself. In the end, I had an excellent working touchscreen! So I hope this post will help some of you!
