Dual Raspberry Pi Official Displays

Tue Jul 27, 2021 11:24 pm

Is there anyway to get a splitter or anything else to be able to use two of the official displays on one pi?

Software or hardware issue?
Software could get patched, harder to patch hardware.

Maybe those next Pi displays can do two?
A big one and a little one?

Not with the firmware drivers (it only supports one DSI instance at a time), but in theory with KMS - I'm working on it.

Yep, with a new expensive toy for DSI analysing ;)

Time to start collecting DSI displays?
All those phones and tablets just lying around?

Maybe start with two of those Nexus 7 displays?

Did the old VC4 parts ever use DSI displays when they went into mp3/4/tablets etc?
Some of those flip phones had a big and small TFT.

Edit - Hmm back in 2014
The camera interface and DSI interface are still closed source, although I think the register sets were released.

There were a number of phones that used the VC4 that used DSI displays. Nokia, Samsung etc. But they are firmware based (and our firmware only has drivers for our devices). KMS is a different kettle of fish, anyone can use that and write their own drivers.
