Issue 80 : Pi FM Transmitter

Not even a mention that this "fun project which allows you to create your own personal radio station" is very likely illegal in most jurisdictions, viz -

And I'm not sure putting it under a HAM radio project section was the brightest of ideas.

Well there is a big warning at the start of the project - page 70

Its about as good as enabling SMB 1.0 on the SAMBA section

Shame that little bits like this can cause so much noise in what is a good magazine.

Which nobody will read. In just the same way they won't read the warning at https://circuitdigest.com/microcontroll ... ransmitter

If you want to get Ofcom knocking on the door and confiscating equipment, then try broadcasting on 121.5MHz

No thanks - I dropped out of HAM radios when I got into an argument with the local exam board over wanting to use a TRS-80 to send / receive morse without learning it

Since then I've stuck to licences for WiFi and TV licences (though the latter is harder to sort than the former).

nobody around here complained when my son attached a bit of wire to a pi, found some code and broadcast some star wars music on the Lincs FM channel.
He was quite proud of himself, you could pick it up a good 50 to 100m away in the car.

Don't know where he got the idea, but could have been an old MagPi or just good old internet.

Having had the misfortune to have to listen to Lincs FM during car shares I assume the locals saw this as an advantage
